Taipei 101 New Year Countdown Party with the theme - "Towards a Better Future" aims to heal people’s hearts!

For this year's New Year's Eve celebration, the tallest skyscraper - Taipei 101 will feature 16,000 fireworks over the period of 360 seconds, making it one of the longest and largest displays in the city's history. The “Love-shaped” and “Angel Spreading Wings” fireworks will bring the onlookers to welcome a bright future in 2022.

The theme of this year's display, according to Chairman of Taipei 101 - Chang Hsueh-shun (張學舜), is "Towards a Better Future". The show will incorporate music, animation, and a light show besides displaying fireworks.

Chang also mentioned that " We hope to make the firework display a therapeutic one and encourage people to stay strong in the midst of COVID-19, along with the worldwide community."

The "101 Team" spent a half year designing the details of fireworks and Taiwan was still coping with a local outbreak at the time of the initial planning, so that fund-raising was challenging back then.

The fireworks display would come after Taipei's New Year's Eve countdown party at Taipei City Hall Square, which will invite some of the country's most popular entertainers.

Indie bands and celebrities attending the party are EggPlantEgg (茄子蛋) and Accusefive (告五人), singer and songwriter A-Lin (黃麗玲), pop-rock band Tizzy Bac (鐵之貝克), rock duo Power Station (動力火車), and Malaysian pop singer Fish Leong (梁靜茹).
