In order to increase the visibility of higher education in Taiwan and enhance the willingness of Thai students to study in Taiwan, the Taiwan Education Center of Thailand held the "Taiwan Higher Education Exhibition Fairs" in Bangkok, Thailand on July 27 from 10 am to 6 pm. There were nearly 30 famous universities and colleges of Taiwan joined the exhibition, exhibiting and offers international enrollment and scholarship information in various fields.
The Taiwan Education Center in Thailand has offices in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Nakhonratchasima, Thailand. The center provides courses and scholarships for degree and Chinese language courses information in Taiwan. It has been commissioned by the Ministry of Education of Republic of China to hold the Annual Higher Education Exhibition for 7 consecutive years.
This year, National Taiwan University and National Taiwan Normal University joined the exhibition. The exhibition provided information on the introduction of the schools, the course description, the application process and scholarships and invited Thai student alumni to share their experience in studying in Taiwan. The exhibition also offered a lottery prizes for visitor and gave Taiwanese pearl milk tea for free.
Tong Zhen-yuan (童振源), the representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand said that Taiwan's universities are quite international and currently offer a total of 477 courses in English. The quality of universities has been highly recognized by the Thai government. National Taiwan University was invited to Thailand last year to establish a course with Amata University.
Tong Zhen-yuan further said that in order to attract international outstanding students, Taiwan government and universities offer a variety of scholarships while Taiwan government provides 25 full scholarships for Thai students each year, and Taiwan universities offer about 1,200 scholarships for Thai students.
Taiwan’s high-level higher education has gained international recognition and has become one of the main driving forces for Taiwan’s economic growth. It has become the first choice for many Southeast Asian countries to study abroad in recent years. In 2018, the number of overseas students who went to Taiwan has grown by more than 120,000. The number of Thai students studying in Taiwan has reached a record high of 3,236, a substantial increase of 52.28%, and continues to be the tenth largest source of overseas students in Taiwan.
