The Taipei City Government announced that six sightseeing spots in the city have earned the Muslim Friendly Environment Certificate. The six spots are the National Palace Museum, National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, Taipei 101, Taipei Children’s Amusement Park, Zhishan Cultural and Ecological Garden and the Discovery Center of Taipei. To fulfill to international standard of Muslim-friendly city, it also increased 28 hostels and 1,403 rooms for the Muslims tourists. Taipei Deputy Mayor Tsai Ping-kun (蔡炳坤) promulgated Muslim Friendly Environment Certificate on 21st.
The numbers of Muslim friendly hotel in Taipei ranks the top in Taiwan. In addition to the 18 certificated Muslim-friendly hostels, there are 28 hotels that have been certified and the number has increased by 155%. In order to accommodate Muslim travelers, the hotel provide a prayer blanket, sign of the direction of Mecca, washlet facilities in the restrooms and serve breakfast specially as well as the professional education training of the hotel staffs. These 28 hotels are located in the Beitou District, Wanhua District, Zhongzheng District and eight districts of Taipei City which also include different types of hotels such as business hotels, hot spring hotels and youth hostels to provide more choices for Muslims coming to Taiwan.
Mayor Tsai Ping-kun promulgated Muslim Friendly Environment Certificate and invited CEO of CrescentRating Fazal Bahardeen and other foreign representatives in Taiwan to witness the determination and efforts of Taipei City to promote Muslim tourism. Tsai stated that Taiwan ranked third in non-Organisation of Islamic Cooperation countries, along with Japan and the UK, in MasterCard’s 2019 Global Muslim Travel Index(GMTI) for the first time this year. “Freedom, diversity and openness” are the main features that make Taipei attractive to visitors, Tsai said, adding that the city will continue to provide refined and respectful services.
The Muslim tourist mostly receive travel information by worth of mouth of relatives and friends. Thus, it invited Malaysian Muslim Internet celebrity couples Syah Fitri and Farrah Khairina ,who have millions of fans, traveling in Taipei. Syah Fitri and Farrah Khairina said that the Taiwanese people are very kind to Muslim friends, and that there are many friendly facilities and caring services at the sightseeing spots and hotels. Taipei City will continuously work on becoming internationally friendly city, providing more diverse and convenient tourist information for Muslim travelers.
