To promote sustainable tourism, the Nantou County Government, in collaboration with six major industries including the hotel industry and tourist factories, has launched the "Travel in Nantou and Earn Rewards" campaign, encouraging both domestic and international tourists to visit Nantou. According to the plan, weekday spending can earn a reward of NT$200, spending at certified sustainable stores offers NT$300, staying one night gets an NT$800 subsidy, and the second night NT$900. Each person is limited to using each of these four rewards once, with a maximum reward of NT$2,200, which will be directly deducted from the total cost. Travelers who meet specific conditions, such as using public transportation like Taiwan Tourist Shuttle or Nantou Bus, can also receive a special surprise gift package.Travel in Nantou and Earn Rewards: Up to NT$2,200 Per Person (Photo: Taken from the Nantou County Government website)

Vice Magistrate Wang Ruide stated at the press conference that this project aims to implement Magistrate Hsu Shu-hua's "Low Carbon Leadership, Sustainable Nantou" policy. The county government, in cooperation with the Nantou County Tourism Industry Alliance Association, is promoting the "Nantou Sustainable Tourism Reward Program." By combining efforts from the hotel industry, bed-and-breakfast inns, yacht industry, tourist factories, experience fields, and Taiwan Tourist Shuttle, the program encourages inbound travelers, group tourists, and independent travelers to visit certified sustainable attractions in Nantou, thereby promoting green accommodations and developing a sustainable tourism industry.

The Tourism Department indicated that this activity not only includes certified sustainable attractions in Nantou but also encourages uncertified businesses to join the initiative by signing a pledge to support sustainable tourism. Currently, over 180 businesses in Nantou and 90 travel agencies are participating, with the second wave of registration open until October 20.

Nantou County Tourism Industry Alliance Association Chairman Wei Zhenyu expressed full support from local industries for the county government's sustainable tourism policy, with businesses actively cooperating. Tourism Director Chen Zhixian added that Nantou is currently hosting events such as the World Tea Expo, Sun Moon Lake Fireworks Festival, Nantou Hot Spring Festival, and Hiking Festival, with upcoming events like the Flower Carnival and the 2025 Nantou Lantern Festival. The hope is that through this reward program, more tourists will be attracted to explore Nantou in-depth, experiencing the charm of tourism that combines relaxation and culture.
