Taiwan will discontinue the outdoor mask mandate starting on December 1st. Table-by-table toasting with wine or tea is allowed at banquets.

Taiwan’s Central Epidemic Command Center(CECC)announced that considering the decrease of the domestic epidemic situation and the prevalence of respiratory infectious diseases become more stable, in order to balance epidemic prevention, economic and social operations, maintain domestic epidemic prevention capacity and control effectiveness risks, after a comprehensive assessment on epidemic situation, Taiwan will discontinue the outdoor mask mandate starting on December 1st. The newly relaxed mask regulation that will take effect in December are as follows:

Outdoor mask regulation rule is discontinued. However, mask regulation for New Year’s Even large-scare outdoor events will be developed separately depending on the changes in the epidemic situation.

Masks must be worn at all times when going to indoor spaces and places. (Including  the interior spaces of carriages, ships, air-crafts, etc… ) However, people who meet exceptional circumstances do not need to wear masks. 

People who meet the following exceptions are exempts from wearing masks indoors but should carry a mask with them or have a mask ready for use. Masks are still required if COVID-19 symptoms are present and unable to maintain appropriate social distance with non-specific persons.

1. When engaging in sports, singing, and taking individual/group photos.

2. When driving by oneself or with live-in family members

3. When Live broadcasting, video recording, moderating an event, reporting, giving a speech, lecturing, or during activities or events involving conversations.

Masks can be removed when consuming food outside.

Masks can be temporarily removed at indoor places or activities designated by the CECC or another competent authority that comply with the epidemic prevention and rules.

Dining venues: Table-by-table toasting with wine or tea is allowed at banquets.
