Weekly News (May 24th- May 30nd

  • President Tsai reminds the public of three guidelines amid COVID-19 surge

People started panic buying necessary goods, such as toilet paper and instant noodles after the news came out. President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) reassures the public there is sufficient food supplies and masks across Taiwan.   • New Immigrant Multicultural Talent Training Program is providing free courses for new immigrants and their children

The National Immigration Agency launched a New Immigrant Multicultural Talent Training Program, intending to encourage new immigrants and their children to participate in public events, and boost international exchanges.   • Autism child Rong sings out her true colors

Lin Xing Rong (Rong) is a ten years old little girl from Yilan. Her mother, Lin Zi Qing, is from Guangdong. Together, they sang a Taiwanese song called “Mother’s Hand”(阿母的手) and won second place in the competition.  (Further reading: Autism child Rong sings out her true colors)   

  • A new record: Taiwan issued 1,399 Employment Gold Cards in 2020

According to statistics from the National Development Council, Taiwan Employment Gold Card was first implemented in February 2018, and had 188 applicants. And in 2019, the applicants reached to 358 people. And then in 2020, the applicants reached a new high, 1,399 people applied for the Taiwan Employment Gold Card.
