Chinese restaurant apologizes after video of diners urinating into hotpot broth goes viral

A Chinese restaurant has issued a public apology after a video showing a diner urinating directly into a hotpot broth went viral online, sparking widespread outrage and condemnation from netizens.

In the shocking footage, a man is seen standing up at a hotpot table and urinating into the simmering broth in full view of other customers, who react with shock and disgust. The video quickly spread across social media platforms, with netizens calling it &ldquounbelievable,&rdquo &ldquodisgusting,&rdquo and &ldquoan insult to the food industry.&rdquo

The restaurant confirmed that the incident occurred during late-night hours and that staff immediately reported it to the police and offered apologies and compensation to other guests at the scene. The restaurant stated that the involved customer has been permanently banned and that it is cooperating with authorities in an ongoing investigation.

The management also pledged to strengthen monitoring and customer conduct management to prevent similar incidents in the future. Officials are now reviewing the case to determine whether the act constitutes a public health or legal violation.
