In order to help new immigrants obtain jobs and broaden their career options, Workforce Development Agency, Ministry of Labor, Taichung-Changhua-Nantou Regional Branch, particularly collaborates with convenience store chains and cultivates new immigrants by training them first before hiring them. Trainees can work at other businesses or supermarkets after finishing their training, which would help Taiwan's labor force grow.

A new immigrant (達妮) from Cambodia who attended this course claimed that some employers would be skeptical of her during the hiring process due to her status as a new immigrant.

Because of this, she gained comprehensive training through the training classes offered by the Ministry of Labor, including working language and practical management, and following the training, she was successfully employed, which made her feel quite at ease. And after two months on the job, the store manager started teaching her more intricate accounting management and report-writing techniques in order to reinforce her duties. This was due to her positive attitude at work and outstanding performance.

According to Workforce Development Agency, Ministry of Labor, Taichung-Changhua-Nantou Regional Branch, most new immigrants seeking for work prefer occupations with flexible working hours and near to home, which is similar with the traits of chain convenience stores. In addition to helping many displaced women for re-employment, more than half of the trainees found employment in retail sales after completing the training. The government will cover all or 80% of the cost of the training. You can check and register for the training class through "TaiwanJobs" or by calling 04-23592181.
