Taiwan Railways and Taiwan High Speed Rail implements new safety measures under nationwide level 2 alert

In accordance with the improvement of the epidemic and the nationwide level 2 alert, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) stated that the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) and Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation (THSRC) will be setting 7 seats as the upper limit, and prohibit eating and drinking on the train. TRA will base seating on the numbers found on the e-tickets; THSRC will base seats on seating numbers.

According to MOTC, restaurants in TRA will be open for dine-in use, but safety measures must be in accordance with the Central Epidemic Command Center's (CECC) regulations. Selling meals and drinks on the train is also prohibited.

The THSRC will also open restaurants for dine-in use but eating and drinking on the train is still prohibited. Free seating on the train will be restricted. Seating will be limited to 7 in one train car.
