The new coronavirus variant Omicron is still spreading worldwide. To increase the vaccination rate in Taiwan, National Immigration Agency (NIA) has been promoting the “Carefree Covid-19 Vaccination Program” to encourage foreign nationals, including undocumented migrant workers and overstayers to receive free vaccination. The program adopts four principles, “won’t be reported”, “won’t be seized”, “won’t be charged for any fee”, “won’t be banned” and it will last until January 31, 2022.

NIA collaborated with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to promote this program. The partner organizations in Chiayi are “Chiayi County New Immigrants Association (新住民當家協會)” with address: No.147, Linpijiao, 17, Fule Village, Minxiong Township, Chiayi County), and “Toko Wiwi Restaurant (爵士印尼風小館)” with address: No. 1, Ximen Street, West District, Chiayi City.

After completing the registration, the follow-up notice will be sent to remind foreign nationals to bring passports, resident certificates, etc. to the designated place for vaccinations. Even if individuals have no identity certificate or UI No., NGOs will help foreigners to get vaccinated with a peace of mind.

The Commander of Chiayi Brigade, Zhang Tian Tong (張添童), stated that undocumented migrant workers and overstayers will not be investigated because of Covid-19 Vaccination registration. He appealed to the public to help inform their foreign friends about the program information, so that everyone living in Taiwan can protect themselves as well as others.
