CECC confirms 89 more COVID-19 cases, including 52 domestic cases and 37 imported cases

According to Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC), there are 89 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of those 89 cases, 52 are domestic and 37 are imported. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are 32 men and 20 women, aged between under 5 and above 70 years old.

Regarding the 37 new imported cases, they are 17 men and 20 women, aged between under 10 and above 60 years old. 12 of them are from the US, 3 from France, 2 from the U.K., and 1 from Denmark, India, Ukraine, Philippines, Turkey, and Australia each. The remaining 14 cases arrived are being investigated. They arrived between January 8, 2022 to January 22, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,441,110 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,422,031. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 18,325 cases. Of the 18,325 confirmed cases, 3,368 are imported; 14,903 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection.

The command center once again appeals to the public that one should keep hands clean, wear a mask, reduce unnecessary travel, activities, or gatherings, avoid entering and leaving crowded places, or areas with high risk of infection transmission, and take the initiative to follow various regulations and stop the potential spread of the highly contagious variant within the community
