Affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, people stay at home more, Banqiao New Immigrant Family Service Center of New Taipei City (新北市板橋新住民家庭服務中心) invited Thailand’s beautiful new immigrant interpreter "Hsiao Lan" Chen Lan-Lun (小蘭, 陳蘭倫) in the "Epidemic Prevention Cooking Classroom" (防疫烹飪小教室) to teach the public how to make "mango glutinous rice", so that the new immigrants of Taiwan can taste the flavor from their hometown, and also let the people of Taiwan have a better understanding of foreign cuisine.

Hsiao Lan usually serves as an interpreter at Banqiao New Immigrant Center and at the Wanhua Hall. She also knows how to cook many hometown dishes. This time, Hsiao Lan teaches the common delicacy "mango sticky rice" which is usually available in high-end Thai restaurants and street vendors. “Q”, chewy rice is paired with ice cold, refreshing mango, which refreshes the body and mind from the boredom of staying at home.

Lin Pao-Chu (林寶珠), Chief of Community Development and Women’s Welfare Section of the Social Welfare Department (社會局社區發展與婦女福利), said that all physical courses will be suspended during the epidemic. The Banqiao New Immigrants Center allows new immigrants in Taiwan to share how to prepare their hometown dishes through online teaching. They can prepare their hometown food at home and feel close to their hometown through food.
