In collaboration with the Agriculture Bureau, the Kaohsiung City Government invited an eight-time world gold medalist baker to transform the city's favorite bananas into scrumptious "Banana Chocolate Steamed Cake" and "Banana Chocolate Cup Cake." They will be available nationwide for a month in Taiwan supermarket chains.

The specifically made "Banana Chocolate Steamed Cake" was overseen by instructor Pei Zhiwei(裴志偉), who took home the gold prize in the 2022 Luxembourg World Cup Culinary Competition, according to the Agriculture Bureau of Kaohsiung. Another dish called "Banana Chocolate Cup Cake" contains three layers: chocolate cake and chocolate mousse on the bottom, a layer of soft and fragrant chocolate on top, and a layer of banana mousse filling in the center.

According to the director of the MOA's Agriculture and Food Agency, Taiwan produces up to 330,000 tons of bananas annually, making it a banana-rich country. Of these, Qishan, Kaohsiung has the greatest concentration of bananas, which are not only tasty but also nutrient-dense. It greatly benefits human health. By being processed into desserts, bananas will gain more value and become more competitive in the market for agricultural products.
