News Focus (December 27 – January 2) 

Taichung City invited new immigrant families for portrait photos

To celebrate “2021 Migrants Day”, the Taichung City Hall hosted the “New Immigrants Family Photos” contest. It is a platform for new immigrant children to express their love and gratitude to their families in Taiwan. (Read more: Taichung City invited new immigrant families for portrait photos)

Carefree COVID-19 Vaccination Program for foreign nationals

The National Immigration Agency (NIA) promotes the “Carefree Vaccination Program” for foreign nationals with the 4 principles: “Won’t be reported, won’t be seized, won’t be charged for a fee, won’t be banned”. This is to encourage migrant workers to get vaccinated as soon as possible. (Read more: Carefree COVID-19 Vaccination Program for foreign nationals)

Pandemic insurance for migrant workers can cover medical expenses of up to NT$500,000

The Ministry of Labor (MOL) has approved the scheme allowing migrant workers to enter Taiwan. Employers must provide employment insurance to migrant workers. Currently there are 6 companies approved by the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC). (Read more: Pandemic insurance for migrant workers can cover medical expenses of up to NT$500,000)

2nd BNT vaccine dose to be scheduled before final exams

The Ministry of Education (MOE) reminds educational institutions to administer the second BNT vaccine dose before December 20 so that the schedule will not collide with the final exams.
