The Taichung Civil Affairs Bureau held the 2019 New Residents' Traditional Wedding Culture Exhibition at the New Residents Art and Cultural Center in Nanxun District, Taichung City on June 2nd. New residents from Southeast Asia, China and Canada were invited to sign up and guided by professional teachers to make sachets and hold the Egg Painting competition, spreading the atmosphere of Taiwan's Dragon Boat Festival.
On the day of the event, the Civil Affairs Bureau has carefully designed the activities that were different from previous years, and invited Lin Xuemei, a teacher who has been engaged in the field of hand-made teaching for many years, to lead the children and friends to experience the fun of making sachets, to feel the joy of doing handmade stuff, and to hold the Egg Painting competition. In addition, the police of the fifth branch of Taichung City also came to announce the information related to family violence prevention.
Most of the immigrant families have encouraged the whole family members to participate. The adults and children painted the eggs seriously and tried to win the prizes. Finally, after the consideration of the national master Hou Shoufeng, the top three masterpieces were selected. In the end, all the participating families gathered at the square to take a group photo.
The Civil Affairs Bureau said that in order to help the new residents and Taiwanese people understand each other, the ‘2019 New Residence Traditional Wedding Culture’ was specially planned. In addition to the opening of the "New Residence Traditional Wedding Culture" in Taichung City in April to introduce the wedding culture and etiquette of Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines to local people, the Bureau also holds several new-resident-related activities.
