The store clerk noticed something was wrong and reported the case to the police. The police pointed out that the migrant worker had been scammed after arriving there to investigate, and finally successfully prevented him from being defrauded.

The Filipino migrant worker met a female netizen on a dating app, and their relationship grew deeper over time, according to the authorities. He recently received a request from a female netizen to assist her in purchasing 10,000 NTD in consumption points, along with a photo of the stub of the remittance receipt, which compelled him to make the purchase without a second thought and give the password to her. However, after a week had passed, the female netizen asked him to purchase consumption points once more. The migrant worker went to the store to do so, and the clerk there instantly suspected fraud and phoned the police.
Police took the migrant worker to check in the passbook to show that the remittance stated by the female netizen was not in the account at all, and that the remittance slip was forged after determining that the migrant worker had been duped out of love. The migrant worker thanked the police for warning him in time and realized that he had been duped. The police also make a public announcement warning people not to believe unreliable information regarding online dating, job searching, and investing and advising them to conduct additional research to avoid being misled.
