As of the end of 2018, the total number of migrant workers in Taiwan reached 700,000, of which about 40% are Indonesian, followed by Vietnam, the Philippines and Thailand. These people who come from foreign countries are all over Taiwan, deep in urban and rural areas. Most of the male migrant workers are in the fishing industry and agriculture, in construction or factories, and they make up for the shortage of labor in Taiwan. Around 90% of female migrant workers work in hospitals or in families as caretakers or house helpers, shouldering the work in long-term family care that should be borne by the national welfare.

The world is globalized, the Internet is everywhere, and the distance between people is getting closer, but "discrimination" has not disappeared in the hearts of modern people. The story is about a Vietnamese migrant worker and a Taiwanese woman Hsiao Lan. Both children were born out of wedlock, the father was forced to return to his country and the mother had no choice but to leave the child, their children became "The Rootless", without identity and nationality.

The Vietnamese man Li Wen-cheng came to Taiwan to help his parents back home. He boarded a fishing boat and became a Taiwanese fisherman. In the cramped cabin, there were two other fishermen, Ahai and Chang wen, also from Vietnam. Wen cheng and Ahai became close friends, and they are also real buddies who help each other when they are pushed and bullied.

Being overworked and facing constant discrimination and abuse from the captain, Li Wen cheng clashed with the captain, forcing Wen Cheng to jump into the sea and escape. From this moment on, he became an undocumented foreign worker. Xiao Lan was also completely frustrated due to her family problems, and she wanted to die with Wen cheng, because she is already pregnant with Wen cheng's child. From then on, Wen cheng, Xiao Lan and their child, Li tzu han, is one family.
