The "New Immigrant and Children Dream-Building Project," organized by the National Immigration Agency, has reached its 10th year. Since its inception, this program has been dedicated to helping new immigrants and their children realize their dreams. The journey of participants in fulfilling their dreams has shown unparalleled passion and perseverance, inspiring countless others. We will introduce this year’s outstanding winners in the "Education, Learning, and Arts Group." Let’s explore these new immigrants' understanding, sharing, preservation, and promotion of diverse educational cultures and artistic learning.

"Beautiful Fusion of Ao Dai and Modern Fashion" - Zhu Xiulian / Su Shi Tie / Huang Cihui
Zhu Xiulian, from Vietnam, has a deep passion for the traditional Ao Dai dress. This unique attire highlights the body's curves, and its flowing skirt embodies elegance. However, interest among younger generations has gradually diminished over time, which Zhu Xiulian finds regrettable. To preserve this vanishing art, she collaborated with Su Shi Tie and Huang Cihui under the Dream-Building Project to combine Ao Dai with modern fashion elements, creating contemporary Ao Dai designs.

They designed three "Xiandai" clothing that incorporates modern trends and held experience activities. Modern Ao Dai not only showcases the unique charm of Vietnamese clothing, but also gives Vietnamese culture a new interpretation in Taiwan and arouses attention to traditional culture.Zhu Xiulian (left), Huang Cihui (center), and Su Shi Diep (right) Hold Achievement Presentation (Image/Source: NIA FB)

"April Rain" - Tang Xiaoqiu & Yi Wenzhen & Chen Aiyu & Wang Yan & Tang Peihan
Tang Xiaoqiu, originally from China, has lived in Taiwan for 20 years. Despite her busy family life, she has retained her love for dance. With many traditional cultural aspects fading, Xiaoqiu aspires to revive forgotten music and stories through dance. Together with fellow immigrants Yi Wenzhen, Chen Aiyu, Wang Yan, and Tang Peihan, she performed "April Rain," based on Deng Yuxian's work, under the Dream-Building Project. They held a five-month dance course in front of Changhua County Government, drawing numerous dance enthusiasts. Their final public performance introduced audiences to Taiwan's folk music, spreading the passion of hometown melodies.
