The United States Department of State released the findings of the 2023 Trafficking in Persons Report in response to the issue of human trafficking. Taiwan has been recognized as a "Tier 1" nation among 180 nations and regions for 14 years running, sharing the top spot with the United States and the United Kingdom. International recognition has been earned for the collaboration between the people and the government in overcoming obstacles and resolving the human trafficking issue.
According to Interior Minister Lin Yu-chang (林右昌), through the "Action Plan for Fisheries and Human Rights" and the "Cambodia Human Trafficking Task Force," the government actively addresses the labor rights of foreign fishermen who are concerned by non-governmental organizations, as well as Taiwanese visitors who are trafficked in human beings in Cambodia and other places. It also promotes cross-ministerial and transnational resource cooperation to strengthen the crackdown on criminals and promotes public safety.

The Ministry of the Interior has incorporated the majority of the suggestions contained in the U.S. State Department's evaluation report, the Interior Minister further said. Increased third-party inspection procedures at foreign ports and improved social worker and professional identification and engagement of human trafficking victims are only a few of the particular actions being taken. In the future, The Ministry of the Interior will keep working across ministries to promote human rights protection, actively combat human trafficking, and collaborate with non-governmental and international partners.
