The opening ceremony of the 45-day 2019 Taitung Taiwan International Balloon Festival (台灣熱氣球嘉年華) was held on the morning of June 29 at Luye Highlands in Taitung, it attracted over tens thousands of people to enjoy the 26 hot air balloons on the prairie. Many hot air balloons took off and flew freely, and the sky of the Valley was embellished with colorful balloons. The public used their camera and mobile phone taking pictures and recording the most beautiful moment.
According to the Central News Agency, many people gathered at Luye Highlands from the night of June 28. The scene of the event was crowded in the early morning, and even some tourists driving from Taipei to Taitung overnight to see the beauty of the hot air balloon. The Transportation and Tourism Development Office of Taitung County Government (台東縣政府交通及觀光發展處) estimated that the number of people in the event exceeds 10,000.
According to the report, the Transportation and Tourism Development Office said that this year is the 9th Taiwan International Balloon Festival. It comes with the theme of “Happiness long-term, children’s dream paradise” and 9 Night Glow Concerts will be held during the event and will be held for the first time in Green Island and Dawu Coast Park. In addition, there are 9 major themed activities, such as the hot air balloon amusement park, the most beautiful starry sky concert, and the hot air balloon picnic day, which will turn Luye Highlands into a "happy childlike" hot air balloon party.
Rao Qing-ling (饒慶鈴), the magistrate of Taitung County, said that from the beginning of July until August 12, the 45-day 2019 Taitung Taiwan International Balloon Festival will have 40 different shapes such as puppies, sponges, Ebisu, bees, butterflies and so on.
