According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, with the increased restrictions brought on by the pandemic last year, actress Nikki Valdez, who runs a cake company, had to overcome challenges for which she was able to find answers.

Valdez has resumed her cake company, which she started in 2015, and recounted her experience on her Instagram page, where she also posted some images of her cakes.

I haven't posted any of my cakes in a while, so here we go! I apologize if I'm occupying your timeline. This helps me understand my prior mistakes and struggles—that you shouldn't be too harsh on yourself. Downfalls are temporary only if you push yourself to pick up the pieces again—because lately I haven't been feeling like my regular self, she said. 

In September 2021, "at the height of the pandemic, when it was so difficult to cross borders from Manila," she recalled making a cake.

This was supposed to be an all-edible, three-tiered naked cake that she typically stacks at the venue, but because of the tighter regulations in place at the time, she had to find an alternative that wouldn't let her client down.

With assistance from florist The Flower Guy, Valdez finished the cake after three exhausting days. The main problem, according to her, was making the fake cake appear real and ensuring its safe delivery to Pangasinan. Thankfully, it worked with the other giveaways.
