CECC confirms 12 more imported cases and 1 more indigenous case in Taiwan on May 6

According to CECC, on May 6, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 12 new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Those 12 new cases arrived in Taiwan from the Philippines (Cases #1162-1167 and Cases #1171-1173), Vietnam (Case #1168 and Case #1169) and Indonesia (Case #1170).
Cases #1162-1166 are all migrant workers from the Philippines. The Filipino migrant workers traveled to Taiwan to for work on April 21. They were tested on May 4 before completing the quarantine period, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the cases on May 6.
Case #1167 is an over 30-year-old male from the Philippines. The Filipino man traveled to Taiwan to work as a fisherman on April 22. He was tested on May 5 before completing the quarantine period, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on May 6.
Case #1168 and Case #1169 are two female migrant workers from Vietnam. The female migrant workers traveled to Taiwan for work on April 19. They were tested on May 4 after completing the quarantine period, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the cases on May 6.
Case #1170 is an over 20-year-old fisherman from Indonesia. He traveled to Taiwan for work on April 22. He was tested on May 5 before completing the quarantine period, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on May 6.
Case #1171 is an over 20-year-old male migrant worker from the Philippines. The male migrant worker traveled to Taiwan for work on April 14. He was tested on April 27, and the test result came back negative. Due to work requirements, he visited the hospital to take a self-paid test on May 5. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on May 6 (the CT value was 32).
Case #1172 is an over 10-year-old female from the Philippines. She traveled to Taiwan for studies on April 22. She was tested on May 5 before completing the quarantine period, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on May 6
Case #1173 is an over 20-year-old female from the Philippines. She traveled to Taiwan for work on May 4. She was found to have a fever at the airport, and transported to a hospital for testing; infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on May 6.

As for the 1 indigenous case, CECC announced one new confirmed indigenous case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

 The new case, (Case #1174) is a Taiwanese in his 30s working in the engineering department of the airport quarantine hotel. He came into close contact with Case #1120 and Case #1129
The CECC pointed out that he began to experience a sore throat, a fever, and muscle pain on May 3. The quarantine facility then arranged for him to be tested at the hospital. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on May 6 (the CT value was 17).
The CECC reported that a cumulative total of 212,632 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 210,385. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 1173 cases. Of the 1173 confirmed cases, 1028 are imported; 95 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 11 cases' sources of infection are being investigated; and 1 case (Case #530) has been removed (Case #530 is not assigned to any patients). Of the confirmed cases, there have been 12 deaths, and 1075 patients have been released from isolation, with the other 86 patients remaining hospitalized in isolation.
