In 2008, the Kenting National Park Administration Office under the National Park Service established the Tiao Stone Marine Ecological Protection Zone to protect this area where coral fish breed and inhabit. To preserve the marine ecosystem, the zone enforces a complete ban on fishing, angling, and snorkeling or diving in the intertidal zone. Over the past decade, these measures have effectively restored biodiversity. Coral reefs not only protect the coast and provide habitats for marine life but also play a crucial role in recreational activities and drug development. Reducing human interference is essential to maintaining ecological balance.

Kenting's magnificent coral reef terrain is a popular attraction for tourists both domestically and internationally. The intertwined ecosystems of coral reefs and intertidal zones present a mesmerizing blue gradient on the sea surface, changing with the seasons and tides, and are well worth the visitors' careful observation. To promote sustainable use and ecological conservation, the Kenting National Park Administration will host the "South Cape Wave Makers" event on June 29 and August 31 this year, from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM.Enhancing old household items with epoxy resin (Photo / Courtesy of Ministry of the Interior)

The event invites participants to bring old items such as photo frames, mirrors, or trays and use epoxy resin to beautify them. Under the guidance of interpretive volunteers, participants will learn about the formation of the Tiao Stone Marine Ecological Protection Zone, observe the reef terrain, tidal changes, and coastal plants, and then return to the visitor center to recreate the observed coral reef scenes on their old items. This activity not only allows for the reuse of old items to beautify life but also offers an opportunity to connect with the ocean. The participation fee is NT$200 per person, which includes materials and insurance. Those interested can register on the event website : 與國家公園有約】南岬造浪者
