Transitional housing provided and dealing with the repatriation of undocumented migrant workers are closely related to the protection of basic human rights and the image of Taiwan in the world. The Yilan transitional housing of the National Immigration Agency (NIA) acts in a spirit of serving, humanitarian care, following the laws, etc. The migrant workers in the transitional housing will be able to stay at ease and return to their hometowns as soon as possible.

The Yilan transitional housing invites doctors to provide medical services every Tuesday and Thursday, enabling people staying in the housing to receive appropriate treatments and be mentally and physically healthy.

Last year, a Vietnamese migrant worker – Du underwent an asthma attack and was urgently sent to Poh-Ai Hospital for emergency treatment. The Yilan transitional housing dispatched staff to accompany Du every day and kept abreast of his health condition closely. Besides, Yilan transitional housing also contacted Du’s wife and arranged a visit to the hospital for her with help from immigrant organizations.

Lin Jun Liang (林俊良), the director of the Yilan transitional housing, emphasized that the services provided cater to the needs of migrant workers. It is hoped that they are encouraged and able to return to their homelands with peace of mind.
