NDC aims to attract a total of 100,000 foreign professionals by 2030 under the revised Act

The National Development Council (NDC) of Taiwan held a briefing session of the revisions made to the Act for the recruitment and employment of foreign professionals, allowing foreigners to have an in-depth understanding of the act.

The Deputy Minister of NDC - Shih Keh-her (施克和) stated that the revised Act took effect recently, and the government is striving to solve all problems faced by foreigners regarding issues of employment, entrepreneurship and life. Besides, NDC also announced that it aims to attract a total of 100,000 foreign professionals by 2030.

Shih Keh-her says, “all the graduates of the world’s top universities (top 500) can work in Taiwan directly.” There is no need to obtain a 2-year work experience first before working in Taiwan.

Besides, the 3-year tax incentive for special professionals is also extended to 5 years after this amendment. And the threshold for applying for permanent residence for special professionals has been shortened from 5 years to 3 years

In addition, the inter-ministerial meeting promoted by the NDC – “Strengthening of Overseas Talents and Deep Cultivation of Taiwan Project” will assist foreigners in their employment, their children’s education and other aspects of life. It is hoped that the project will build a closer partnership with foreign professionals and promote Taiwan's industrial transformation.
