Minister of Labor Xu Ming-Chun said that anyone who imports meat products in violation of the regulations will be sentenced to a fixed-term imprisonment of not more than 7 years and a fine of not more than NT$3 million. If a migrant worker receives a package of meat products by mail from an infected area, he should send it to the Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine (動物檢疫機關) for destruction. Offenders will be fined up to NT$150,000.

If a migrant worker is punished, he has violated Article 73, paragraph 6 of the Employment Service Act and violated the major provisions of the laws of the Republic of China. The work permit of the migrant worker will be revoked by the MOL, and the worker will be restricted from going abroad. Employers and intermediary companies should specially remind the migrant workers to be aware of this.
