Mr. Brian Misavage, an American potter who has obtained an Artist Visa from the Ministry of Culture and won the Judges Special Awards in Gold Teapot Prizes of the Yingge Ceramics Museum in Taiwan, will set up an exhibition booth at ‘Center for Women of Taoyuan City’ and nearby Yanping Park ‘Migrants Day Multicultural Event’ on December 10th, where new resident families and migrant workers from all over the country can have an in-depth understanding of the beauty of pottery culture.

Mr. Brian Misavage, a potter of Ohio, USA, graduated from the University of Dallas in Texas with a double master’s degree in art creation, majoring in ceramics and sculpture and minoring in geology, with a special interest in rocks and crustal deformation.

Because Mr. Brian loves nature and is deeply fascinated by the scenery of Yilan riviera which is different from his hometown, he chose to live in the small town of Toucheng by the sea, so that he can always go to the sea and mountains to collect various Yilan soils while seeking inspiration and materials. Brian poured his feeling towards nature into his clay, and used wood-fired kiln to create a variety of pottery that is both practical and artistic.

In addition to focusing on pottery creation, Mr. Brian also teaches classes at Dali Elementary School in Toucheng, teaching primary school students how to pick soil and get close to nature, and make their favorite pottery works, so that children can better understand the environment in which they grow up, and use handmade clay to truly feel the temperature and beauty of Yilan.

Jian Yu-Ping, Director of National Immigration Agency (Yilan County Service Center), said that he would like to thank Mr. Brian for presenting his pottery profession and creation to Taiwan, and injecting art and vitality into the land of Yilan. We welcome everyone to participate at the ‘Center for Women of Taoyuan City’ and nearby Yanping Park "Migrations Day Multicultural Activity" from 14:00 to 17:00 on Saturday, December 10!
