The Executive Yuan recently authorized and amended the "NT$30 billion expanded rent subsidy program", which would once again begin on July 3 this year, in order to lessen the financial strain on tenants. This year, as opposed to prior years, the civil law's age of majority has been decreased to 18 years old. Anyone who is at least 18 years old who need to rent due to job or schooling away from home may submit an application. 500,000 tenants will be benefit from the project this year.

According to the Construction and Planning Agency of the Ministry of the Interior, this project will have a budget of NT$30 billion per year beginning in 2022 to assist 500,000 renting households in lessening their living expenses and support rental housing for young people, newlyweds, those with young children, economically and socially disadvantaged households, etc. By way of the provision of rent subsidies, the burden of life on the people will be lessen.

For instance, the student tenants in Taipei City allows single people under the age of 40 who are not economically or socially disadvantaged to receive a monthly subsidy of up to 3,000 NTD, and after the application is accepted, an additional subsidy of 1.2 times can be added. Pay out 3600 NTD. To lessen the strain of living, the multiplier will be increased by 1.4 times to a monthly maximum of 4,200 NTD for low-income or low-middle-income households.
