Following China's lifting of epidemic prevention and entry-exit controls, the Hong Kong government announced that from December 29th, 2022, most of the epidemic prevention restrictions will be lifted, including no longer issuing quarantine orders and defining close contacts, canceling vaccine passes and mandatory PCR test for entry, in addition to maintaining the mask order, restrictions such as social distance order were cancelled. After three years of epidemic control, Hong Kong will officially return to normal life.

Lee Ka-chao, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong announced that Hong Kong has loosened a number of epidemic measures, and international people are exempted from the mandatory PCR of entry, including Taiwan, Macau, mainland China. However, travelers need to hold a negative rapid screening 24 hours before arrival, or 48 hours of PCR negative certificate; The 5-day rapid screening is stipulated, but it can be altered to rapid screening depends on passengers themselves.

In addition, the "quarantine order" in Hong Kong has also been cancelled. The family members of the confirmed cases can come and go freely starting tomorrow. Other social distance order and restriction order were also lifted. Although the mask ban is still in place, this is the largest relaxation of epidemic prevention regulations in Hong Kong since the epidemic began.
