From November 6–12, 2023, Jinzun Harbor in Taitung County will host the Taiwan Open of Surfing. In addition to the domestic men's and women's longboard professional divisions, the event features the QS5,000 Qualifying Series. Activities like the SUP (stand-up paddle board) experience, the marine handcraft experience, and the surfing market are available in addition to the competition. A two-day "Surf Music Festival" will also be hosted this year in an effort to draw more spectators to the tournament.

According to the Taitung County Government, the only location for international surfing contests in Taiwan is Jinzun Harbor. Despite being in the registration phase, elite players from over ten nations have traveled to Taitung to take part in this event. Sky Brown, who is just 15 years old, is another competitor, went to professional surfing contests this year after winning the X Games skateboarding park category title in 2021 and 2022.
