CECC confirms 66 more COVID-19 cases, including 17 domestic cases and 49 imported cases

According to Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC), there are 65 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of those 65 cases, 17 are domestic and 49 are imported. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are 10 men and 7 women, aged between under 5 and above 60 years old.

Regarding the 49 new imported cases, they are 33 men and 16 women, aged between under 10 and 59 years old. 21 of them are from the US, 5 from Vietnam, 4 from Canada, 3 from the UK, 2 from France, and 1 from Ireland, Spain, Sweden, Philippines, Poland, Mexico, and Panama each. The remaining 7 cases arrived are being investigated. They arrived between January 3 to January 17, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,306,453 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,287,815. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 17,951 cases. Of the 17,951 confirmed cases, 3,171 are imported; 14,726 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection.

The command center once again appeals to the public that one should keep hands clean, wear a mask, reduce unnecessary travel, activities, or gatherings, avoid entering and leaving crowded places, or areas with high risk of infection transmission, and take the initiative to follow various regulations and stop the potential spread of the highly contagious variant within the community
