National Immigration Agency Promotes Mobile Services, Deeply Cares for New Immigrants

To deeply care for the lives of new immigrants in Taiwan, the National Immigration Agency, led by Secretary-General Xie Wenzhong, visited Chiayi County today (17th) along with related units. They visited and cared for new immigrant families who received the agency's Dream Building Project award, listened to their inspiring stories, and visited the Qingyi Cultural Industry Association in Chiayi County to understand the association's achievements in promoting arts and multicultural activities.

Abandoned Restaurant Transformed into Secret Garden

The first stop was in Fanlu Township, visiting new immigrant Ms. Huang Shuyun from mainland China. Huang has been in Taiwan for 17 years, managing meals for her entire family. With her family's support, she rented an abandoned restaurant and, together with her husband, transformed it into a secret garden. Her creative culinary skills have turned into a practical business plan, earning her recognition from the judges of the 10th Dream Building Project for New Immigrants and Their Children.

Friendly Farming in Natural Ecology

Next, Xie and his team visited another new immigrant, Ms. Ye Xiaoli. Together with her spouse, she rented farmland along the Bazhang River to grow water bamboo using natural farming methods, without any pesticides. Their eco-friendly farm, "He Li's Natural Ecology Field," has been certified for natural farming. With the support of the Dream Building Project, they purchased necessary equipment and, with the family's joint efforts, achieved the dual goals of environmental protection and sustainable development.

Visiting New Immigrant Association and Experiencing Paper Cutting Art

Lastly, Xie and his team visited the Qingyi Cultural Industry Association in Puzi City's Shuidoutou Cultural and Creative Park. The association's chairperson, Zhao Chunmei, is passionate about promoting pottery and paper-cutting crafts, offering free courses to the community and schools, and establishing a workshop as a base for new immigrants' multicultural learning. Under Zhao's guidance, Xie and his team experienced the art of paper cutting firsthand.
