Yunlin County subsidized Yunlin County Social Care Association to hold the event of “Say No to the Sexual Harassment” and promote the correct perspective of sexual harassment prevention. It invited the troupe consisted of seven new residents mother to perform in schools and communities.
Director of the Yunlin County Social Care Association Lai Hui-hua(賴惠華) stated that the members of the troupe consisted of seven new immigrant mothers, including Fan Yu-luan(范玉鸞), Chiao Shu-fang(喬淑方), Yan Yu-chui(阮玉翠), Wu You-ping(吳友萍) from Vietnam, Liao Chun-hong(廖春紅), Chheng Li-na(鄭麗娜) and Wei Li-chun(魏麗群) from Indonesia to performed in Mandarin and Taiwanese with their traditional costumes. Through the participation of new residents in drama performances, it increased the awareness of new residents on sexual harassment prevention. The government will further promote sexual harassment prevention and education to help the public to break the misunderstanding of sexual harassment, and enhance the public’s ability to seek help and protect themselves.
Fan Yu-luan who is a Vietnamese new resident participated in troupe stated that it was the second time she joined in performance. The most difficult thing for the new residents is to speak Taiwanese, but in order to let the community’s elderly understand the performance, they tried to express it with influent Taiwanese and gestures which makes the elderly feel interesting and strengthen their impressions. Yan Yu-chui who participated in the performance for the first time, said that she realized that a small action could become sexual harassment. The sexual harassment could be fined between NT 10,000 to NT 100,000.
