[Taiwan Immigrants’ Global News Network] National Immigration Agency has been operating the "Expanded Overstayers Voluntary Departure Program" from February 1st of this year. The NIA Tainan City Service Center and the Tainan City Specialized Corps appeal to overstayers to seize the opportunity and self-report through various channels. Because of which, A Vietnamese new immigrant’s (阿惠) parents were able to return to their hometown.
The Vietnamese new immigrant(阿惠), who got married and settled in Tainan years ago with her husband works as a temporary employe in an orchard. They are parents of two kids. She recently gave birth last year and moved to a neighboring elementary school as a kitchen worker to support the family budget in order to split the rent and living expenses. Her father was in an unstable condition of health and had endured nearly 8 years of throat cancer. Then she aware of Taiwan's superior medical system and decided to take her father to consult a doctor, his condition therefore got better, but it put off their trip back to Vietnam.

The Vietnamese new immigrant(阿惠) recently learned about the “Expanded Overstayers Voluntary Departure Program” of National Immigration Agency, and immediately contacted the NIA Tainan City Second Service Center. After the explanation and encouragement of the staff at the center, she decided to accompany her parents to complete the procedures of self-report, and they were finally able to return to Vietnam.
The director (胡鵬翔) of the NIA Tainan City Second Service Center said that the program adopts measures such as no detention, exemption from entry ban, and minimum fine of NT$2,000.
