[Taiwan Immigrants’ Global News Network] In New Taipei City, there are numerous distinctive administrative districts. Among these, Wulai District is home to a sizable mountainous hometown in addition to being rich in picturesque surroundings. New Taipei City Government, Youth Department (新北青年局) recently hosted a local cultural experience for foreign students in the Wulai Tampya Tribe (忠治部落) in order to increase interactions between international students and local youth and help them better understand New Taipei's local culture.

Events include tribal excursions, trips to hunting houses, rattan weaving, weaving crafts, learning about hunting trails, traditional knowledge of animals and plants, guided tours of traditional mountain and forest wisdom, and more. Experience with traditional bows and arrows, making traps, and other hunting activities are all included. Also, there is a traditional cuisine experience where you may cook regional dishes on your own and learn about the origins of ingredients including Ma Gao, scallions, millet wine, and bamboo rice.

New Taipei City Government, Youth Department (新北青年局) stated that this time they specifically chose Wulai Tampya Tribe (忠治部落) to organize local cultural experience, so that international students can understand New Taipei City, and promote exchanges between international students in Taiwan and local youths through cultural or local creation experience. This is also the first local cultural encounter for international students since the Youth Department was established.
