Taipei City, Taiwan was named the non-OIC "Most Promising Muslim-friendly City Destination of the Year" this year (2023), according to the "Global Muslim Travel Index", which just released the findings of the selection. The Department of Information and Tourism of the Taipei City Government promised to keep up the good work and also revealed that it will travel to Malaysia in August to promote tourism in an effort to get more Muslim visitors to Taipei.

The Muslim travel agency Crescent Rating and MasterCard collaborated to create the Global Muslim Travel Index. Every year, it assesses how Muslim tourists are treated in various nations. For the first time in this year's competition, Taipei City—the only city in Taiwan to get the honor—was named the Most Promising Muslim-Friendly City Destination of the Year.
The Department of Information and Tourism claims that Taipei City has more than 60 Muslim-friendly hotels and restaurants, more than 30 scenic locations and open spaces have installed prayer rooms or cleaning equipment, and it will actively encourage businesses to apply for Muslim-friendly certification. In the future, Taipei is envisioned as offering Muslims the finest travel experience.

The Department of Information and Tourism also said that over 100,000 Malaysians have visited Taiwan this year, and that Muslims make up over 60% of the country's population. In order to encourage more Muslim visitors to visit Taipei, the Department of Information and Tourism has planned to travel to Malaysia in August to promote Taipei city's scenic beauty and published a Muslim-only itinerary.
