CECC confirms 64 more COVID-19 cases, including 21 domestic cases and 43 imported cases

According to Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC), there are 64 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of those 64 cases, 21 are domestic and 43 are imported. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are 11 men and 10 women, aged between under 5 and above 70 years old.

Regarding the 43 new imported cases, they are 21 men and 22 women, aged between under 5 and around 60 years old. 14 of them are from USA, 3 from India, 2 from Vietnam, Indonesia, UK, and France each, and 1 from Ethiopia, Tanzania, Singapore, Turkey, Philippines, South Africa, Finland, and Japan each. The remaining 10 cases arrived are being investigated. They arrived between May 2, 2021 to January 26, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,581,517 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,562,679. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 18,566 cases. Of the 18,566 confirmed cases, 3,518 are imported; 14,994 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection.

The command center once again appeals to the public that one should keep hands clean, wear a mask, reduce unnecessary travel, activities, or gatherings, avoid entering and leaving crowded places, or areas with high risk of infection transmission, and take the initiative to follow various regulations and stop the potential spread of the highly contagious variant within the community
