The Shuangtan Starlight Run in Chiayi City has made a return, attracting over 5,100 runners to experience the vibrant charm of this energetic city. Chiayi City Mayor Huang Min-hui, along with several distinguished guests, inaugurated the event. Runners enjoyed the evening breeze and the beautiful scenery of Shuangtan as they took on the Chiayi Shuangtan Marathon course, which has received international certification. Mayor Huang not only joined the runners for their warm-up but also cheered them on individually. The scene was lively and heartwarming, with many parents participating with their children, some even pushing strollers in the race.
Mayor Huang Min-hui stated that sports are a crucial way to promote the health and vitality of a city. Chiayi City is proud of its high percentage of active participants in sports and continues to promote fitness through various events. This year's Starlight Run once again showcased Chiayi's passion for sports and community spirit. She expressed her gratitude to the Sports Administration of the Ministry of Education for supporting the event, which has helped establish the Chiayi Shuangtan Starlight Run as a unique brand for the city.
The event featured a 13K running group and a 6.5K health group. The course itself is certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). Mayor Huang warmly welcomed runners from across the country to participate in this special event, which combines Chiayi’s local culture, tourism, and ecological beauty. Through running, participants can explore the unique beauty of Chiayi.

Yu Junfang, General Manager of All-in-One Sports Goods, introduced the event's mascot for this year’s night run, "Starlight Kid," symbolizing the vitality and culture of Chiayi City. The logo is centered around the character "嘉" (Jia) from Chiayi, combined with design elements that evoke a sense of speed, representing the spirit of moving forward with determination. The starlight motif aims to inspire each participant to experience the positive changes in life through an active lifestyle.
The Chiayi City Government’s Department of Education highlighted that by promoting the "Chiayi Shuangtan Starlight Run," they have not only increased the public's participation in sports but also successfully built Chiayi's brand as a sports city, boosting the local sports economy and tourism opportunities. They hope that in the future, this event will become a must-attend annual midsummer sports festival, establishing Chiayi City as a haven for runners.
According to a report by Global Views Magazine, Chiayi City won gold awards for "Public Accessibility to School and Public Venues" and "Satisfaction with Public Sports Facilities," earning the title of "Friendly City for Public Venues." Additionally, Chiayi leads in the allocation of sports budgets and the number of sports facilities, once again showcasing its outstanding achievements in promoting fitness for all.
