President Tsai Ing-Wen: Grateful for help and vaccine donations from other countries

President Tsai Ing-Wen is grateful to all countries who extended their help to Taiwan and the President will continue to get more vaccines.

President Tsai Ing-wen recently delivered a speech at the Presidential Palace on the progress of the Covid-19 prevention work and vaccines. The President thanked the United States government for donating 2.5 million doses of vaccines, and especially emphasized that Taiwan’s good friends; specifically, Japan and the United States, are there to lend a helping hand during times of difficulties. This shows true friendship in times of need.

As of now, Taiwan has accumulated 4 million doses of vaccines, with pending orders waiting to be delivered. The government will continue to work hard to prioritize the vaccines as a matter of utmost importance.

The president expressed her gratitude to her diplomatic teams for their tireless work, whether they are in the United States, Japan, Europe, or Taiwan. They continue to work hard to obtain more vaccines for Taiwan. She also thanked the Japanese government and the United States government for understanding Taiwan’s situation and for their willingness to support Taiwan in times of difficulty.

At present, Taiwan is pushing for the vaccination of its people and the President would like to remind those who have been scheduled for their vaccination, to get vaccinated as soon as possible. She also would like to tell those who are scheduled for a later date, that the government is doing its best to make sure that the vaccines will be delivered on time and previously delayed deliveries can still catch up. The president would like to ask for everybody’s understanding and forgiveness.
