According to Students, teachers to benefit from P300M budget for building classrooms — DBM | Inquirer News, after the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) approved P303.5 million for the building of 120 classrooms across 21 locations countrywide, educators and students may anticipate the construction of more classrooms around the nation.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Department of Education (DepEd) jointly sought the release of these funds under the second batch of Basic Education Facilities (BEF) in 2023, according to a statement released by DBM on November 22.

The request presented by DPWH and DepEd was approved by Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, Basic Education Facilities reported, after all requirements for the fund's release were satisfied.

According to the statement, the prerequisites include a list of schools approved by the Department of Education Undersecretaries for Finance, School Infrastructure and Facilities, and Budget Execution Document No. 1-Financial Plan, Physical Plan, and Monthly Disbursement Program.

DPWH is carrying out the P15.7 billion allowed appropriation for Special Provisions in the FY 2023 DepEd budget. According to the announcement, P15.6 billion would be used, among other things, for the completion and replacement of kindergarten, primary, and secondary school buildings as well as technical vocational laboratories.
