According to Romualdez vows development plan for Pag-asa island | Inquirer News, Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, Speaker of the House of Representatives, has committed to support a development plan for Pag-asa island in the municipality of Kalayaan, Palawan, since the local fishermen will require vital infrastructure like storm shelters and solar power plants.

Romualdez, who traveled to Pag-asa island to check on various projects, said in a statement on October 5 that it is obvious that the nation's defense institutions also require help, particularly given that it is an important outpost in the West Philippine Sea (WPS).

Pag-asa Island obviously need a development strategy. The House of Representatives will take the initiative in developing such a plan since it is the body in charge of the national budget and national programs that need legislation, according to Romualdez.

According to Romualdez vows development plan for Pag-asa island | Inquirer News, he continued by saying that the House of Representatives will also assist with the construction of a solar energy plant, ice and cold storage facilities, a desalination plant, satellite communication facilities, and training programs for fishermen's livelihoods.

Several concerns, for which Congress may find a resolution, were discussed with troops stationed on the island, according to Romualdez, who added that he and the other MPs also spoke with them.

According to Romualdez vows development plan for Pag-asa island | Inquirer News, majority Leader and Zamboanga City's 2nd District Representative Manuel Jose Dalipe, Appropriations Committee Chairperson Elizaldy Co, and Minority Leader and 4Ps Party-List Representative Marcelino Libanan all traveled to Pag-asa Island with Romualdez.
