New Residents Encourage and Care for Disadvantaged Hometowners to Move Forward

A Vietnamese new resident woman named Li, who lives in Dongshih Township of Chiayi County, has not only suffered long-term domestic violence from her ex-husband. After her husband died 10 years ago, her husband's family also broke off with her. Suffering from physical and mental torture, she currently lives with her only son, living mainly on the monthly financial assistance of 3,600 NTD.

Fan Taixia, the chairman of the Chiayi New Residents Family Association, visited and showed her care for her before the Chinese New Year.

Ms. Li has moved to Taiwan after marriage 16 years ago. Her husband did not have a stable career and often committed violence against her. After her husband died, she relied on an unstable income of cutting oysters and financial assistance to rent a house. In addition, her husband's family broke up with her, so she has no relatives in Taiwan and has lived a difficult life after.

When Fan Taixia heard Ms. Li a few days ago about the difficult situation of Mr. Li, she felt really sad. Therefore, she particularly dug into her own pocket to buy a bed and bad sheet for her. In addition to letting Ms. Li and her child no longer sleep in a bed together, Ms. Li can sleep well and is encouraged to bravely move forward.
