In order to respond to Taiwan Cultural Day and call for cultural equality, Radio Taiwan International hosts Radio and Cultural Fair at National Radio Museum on 20th, October. The fair invited the new residents from Tibetan and Vietnam who wear traditional costume and perform cultural dances. Besides the performance, there are Vietnamese specialty beef stew, river curry, chicken curry, green papaya salad and other special snacks are prepared for people and experience different food culture.

The Art and Literature Corridor of National Radio Museum will showcase the creative paintings of the former Radio Taiwan International French program host Xavier Mehl (魏仕傑) in October. Xavier Mehl, who has lived in Taiwan for 13 years, also shared his experience of Taiwanese culture. He mentioned that he was warmly welcomed by Taiwanese people, so that he did not want to go back to France at all, and nature of Taiwan also provided him lots of creative inspiration. In this fair, he has exhibited the works of “Arabesque Slow Cane Pattern” and “Poucet de papier”.

Radio Taiwan International has programs in 14 languages and broadcasted overseas on Internet. The programs of Southeast Asian languages such as Indonesian, Thai and Vietnamese are fascinated and supported by new residents in Taiwan. Huang Ji-xiang(黃吉祥), information team leader of the Radio Taiwan International, said that radio programs are in daily life and not only allowed new residents from different countries to understand the social situation in Taiwan, but also understand the homesickness through familiar mother tongue broadcasting. He Chia-hong(何嘉恒), the township mayor of Minxiong, also attended the event. He shows his appreciation to National Radio Museum for providing a place for new residents and locals to communicate. He also hopes to host such activities in the future.

There are more than 1,600 new residents in Minxiong which is the highest number in Chiayi County. National Radio Museum is located in Minxiong and serves as the local cultural center of Chiayi County. It hopes to make the museum as an open space, allowing local people and new residents to communicate freely through the Radio and Cultural Fair.
