According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Filipina actress Andrea Brillantes once entered a talent competition in an effort to aid her sick elder brother. She did it in the hope of becoming recognized.

"When I was four years old, I used to participate in auditions. My mother and I almost gave up after I was rejected," she told the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Then a renowned shopping center held a talent competition for kids, with a trip to Hong Kong Disneyland as the prize. Brillantes nonetheless lost in the competition. The hunt for Little Miss Confetti was her next contes. She came in first position this time.

Later, she entered a different contest since her family had to get the prize money. We needed to help my sick sibling get better. Andrea Brillantes was surprised and realized that she could win the first place. I simply wished to support my brother.

Brillantes' dream of becoming a singer began when she was a young girl. However, she turned to acting because her brothers teased her about being out of tune all the time.
