New Taipei launches loans to encourage new immigrants to start a business

 

On Labor Day, New Taipei City Mayor, Hou you-yi (侯友宜), went to Xinzhuang Hongtai Market to visit a Mrs. Ruan, a Vietnamese new immigrant who runs a combinative store and personally made Vietnamese spring rolls. Mayor also expressed his support and encouragement for Mrs. Ruan.

"A big thank you to all workers in New Taipei City. With your contributions,  New Taipei City becomes better than yesterday!", Mayor Hou stated. New Taipei City has around 2 million workers, 110,000 of whom are new immigrants. On Labor Day, the city government particularly visited Mrs. Ruan and expressed great gratitude for all workers.


Mrs. Ruan, who came to Taiwan for her dream in 2009, started up a Vietnamese diner with her husband. In 2019, she applied for a start-up loan to New Taipei City Government and finally transformed her diner into a combinative store selling livelihood supplies and diverse cuisines through professional counseling services and financial assistance. Mayor Hou stated that he liked Vietnamese spring rolls, and Under the guidance of Mrs. Ruan's assistance, Mayor Hou could also make Vietnamese cuisines made of rice paper, vegetables, pork, vanilla, and rice vermicelli.
