  • Be cautious of cardless installment loan fraud, which has deceived many college students of central Taiwan

"Cardless installment" loan scam has recently deceived a large number of college students. A self-claimed telecom service salesperson approached students and persuaded them to sign a cardless installment loan contract worth NT$50,000 to NT$100,000 in exchange for "getting a commission of NT$5,000 immediately after signing the contract." Taiwan Immigrants’ Global News Network also advises international students and new immigrants to report crimes right away if they come across similar circumstances.

The 2023 New Taipei Christmasland will take place from November 17 to January 1 of the following year.   • The Government launches 111 Government SMS Platform to stop fraud using fake messages from government agencies

The Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Economics, Ministry of Labor, Academia Sinica, Department of Digital Affairs, Tainan City Government, and other units are taking part in the "111 Government SMS Platform."

According to Digital Affairs Minister Audrey Tang, in the future, anyone would be able to verify that the SMS's content is from a governmental agency simply by the 111 SMS short code.
