News in Focus (August 23 – August 29)

  • The CECC announced the extension of the nationwide level 2 alert

The CECC announced the extension of the nationwide level 2 alert. The COVID-19 epidemic in Taiwan is improving and cases are declining. The CECC announced that the level 2 alert will be extended until August 23. However, KTVs, amusement parks, and public study centers remain closed. This is a reminder to all to cooperate in fighting the epidemic.(For more information:Taiwan's“Level 2 epidemic alert”will be maintained until August 23. The following venues will remain closed.

  • Restrictions in 4 major convenience stores will be lifted

Taiwan resumes the nationwide level 2 alert. The 4 major convenience stores also lift restrictions and allow the public to dine in. Customer seating areas must have partitions or barriers.   • Youth can receive cross-domain allowances of up to NTD60,000

The Ministry of Labor launched the "Youth Cross-border Employment Allowance" program. Eligible applicants must be between ages 18 and 29 and finding a job for the first time. Those with jobs at least 30km within their homes may receive the allowance.   • Child-care allowances have increased by NTD1,000

The Taiwan government implemented the "National Child Care Policy for 0 to 6 Years Old". Child-rearing allowance and child daycare subsidy will be increased in August 2021. The child-rearing allowance and child daycare subsidy will each be increased by NT$1,000.Families who receive parental leave-without-pay allowances and disadvantaged families may apply at the same time.(For more information:Child-rearing allowances and child daycare allowances will be increased by NT$1,000 starting from August 1st
