According to [CNN Philippines], promising Filipino teen racecar driver Bianca Bustamante gets a boost ahead of her FIA Girls on Track Rising Stars stint after bagging six awards at the 17th Golden Wheel Awards.

The 16-year-old racing wunderkind was feted as the 2019 National Senior Karter of the Year, 2019 International Junior Karter of the Year, and the 2019 ROK Karter of the Year.

She also received the 2020 X30 Senior Overall Champion, 2019 ROK GP Senior Overall Champion, and 2019 X30 Senior Overall 1st Runner-up awards.

"Throughout my 10 years in motorsport, I've experienced defeats that I never knew I would be able to overcome," Bustamante said in her speech.

"Those setbacks taught a very important lesson: you cannot swim for new horizons until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore, because of this I am no longer afraid of failing," she also said.

After receiving those awards, Bustamante bared that she will move on from karting and take her act in the racing world.

Bustamante was recently chosen as the only Asian among the 14 young female kart racers in the senior category of the FIA's initiative aimed at boosting women participation in motorsport.

The FIA Girls on Track Rising Stars program will first have a three-day shootout on Oct. 21-23 at the famed Paul Ricard Circuit, the venue of the Formula One French Grand Prix.

The final eight drivers will be selected to attend a two-day FIA training camp. The top four drivers in the program will be chosen to test Formula 4 cars in Fiorano, Italy.

According to [CNN Philippines], the winner of the 2021 FIA Girls on Track Rising Stars program will receive a scholarship at the prestigious Ferrari Driving Academy in Italy, where the likes of Sergio Perez, Charles Leclerc, and Mick Schumacher honed their skills before racing in F1.
