The Tourism Bureau hosted a workshop in the Vietnamese city of Da Nang to promote its initiative project Taiwan Quality Tour for travel operators that provide Vietnamese visitors with tourism products and services in Taiwan. Currently, five local travel agencies have been awarded as followings, Lien Bang Travel, Viet Nam Heritage Tours, Saigontourist, Vietravel and Tre Viet Tours.
In an effort to increase the number of visitors from the region and promote Taiwan as one of the best tourist destinations in Asia, the Tourism Bureau set up its 14th overseas tourism office in Ho Chi Minh City in March this year, and organized a slew of events such as international travel expos on March, vegetarian exhibition May, Taiwan image exhibition on August and three tourism promotion workshops, to promote tourism in Taiwan in the Southeast Asian country. Most importantly, the aims of this year is to advocate the Taiwan Quality Tour project in Vietnam which plans to give certificate and acknowledgment to excellent Taiwan tour by officials.
In addition, in the group visa simplification operation project, the Tourism Bureau has also promoted more convenient simplification measures, including the application for opening of designated travel agencies in Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and adds nine designated travel agencies.
In the expansion of the airlines, including the Da Nang to Taichung flights in August this year, Jetstar Pacific Airlines' new Da Nang to Kaohsiung flights. Also, EVA Air, Vietjet Airlines and Bamboo Airways, which will open the Da Nang and Taiwan routes this year. It shows that the rewarding of Tourism Bureau promoted for the foreign tourists coming to Taiwan are effective. Especially, the application threshold was greatly reduced in the newly revised rewarding of tourism to travel in Hualian and Taitung, from 100 seats per flight to 50 seats. It also raised the subsidizing landing fees and attendant fees, hoping to attract more international flights to Hualien and Taitung.
