According to DICT vows safeguards for digital national ID | Inquirer News, Ivan Uy, Secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), stated on September 13 that the digital ID had security measures in place.

As a result of the Philippine Statistics Authority's failure to fulfill its implementation deadline, the DICT was given the responsibility of developing a digital version of the national ID for the eGov Super App.

According to Ivan Uy, the app itself would not save the users' personal information; rather, the government entities who have access to such information would.

The application only makes use of the data already available from organizations like PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, and Social Security System (SSS).

According to Uy, the system employs biometrics to confirm the owner's identification, preventing the use of animal-based phony IDs in certain situations.

According to DICT vows safeguards for digital national ID | Inquirer News, Uy clarified that this does not guarantee that the digital system will be totally secure from hackers.
